San Diego Padres All Star 1B Adrian Gonzalez was robbed of his 3rd gold glove award. The awards were handed out today and there were no Padres listed. Instead, the award for the 1st Basemen was awarded to St Louis Cardinal Albert Pujols.

The San Diego Padres finished the season with the top fielding percentage in the league and none of the players were awarded with a gold glove on the season. 1B Adrian Gonzalez is the anchor to the defense and prevents any errors from happening by the other infielders.

    …but Gonzalez didn’t even have the highest fielding percentage among NL 1B; his .995 FP was 5th behind Pujols, Loney, Fielder, and Votto. And his UZR of 1.1 had him ranked 7th in the league. Pujols might not have been deserving, but he was better than Gonzalez and you could argue several players were better than Pujols.

    He’s certainly not a bad fielder, but no defensive metric makes him deserving of his 3rd Gold Glove.

    Adrian, didnt win it because the GG has become more and more relative to what mind of offensive season a player had…and Pujols had the better season, with the bat. I still think that its pathetic that more attention isnt given to the fact that Gonzalez plays 81 games in the most severe pitchers balpark in the majors and still manages to hit 30-40 homers, with 100-plus ribbies, every season. Add that to his GG defense and I still think he should get it over Pujols.

    If there is a better defensive 1st baseman in the world other than Adrian Gonzales then he must be perfect because he as close to perfect as they get!!!! He got robbed of his deserving gold glove and by someone who doesn’t even deserve to carry his mitt.
