The Padres have shown interest in Tampa Bay SS Jason Bartlett. Bartlett was originally drafted by the Padres in 2001 and was traded to bring in Brian Buchanan. He would be the starting short stop and would provide a good batting average and more speed on the bases. He is the type of ‘athlete’ that Jed Hoyer likes to bring in.
Bartlett is in the last year of his contract and is due to make about $5 million this upcoming season. Seems like high dollar amount for a team that is trying to save money and doesn’t have a lot to spend.
Here are Bartlett’s career numbers with Minnesota and Tampa Bay:

What do you all think about having him at short?
