NFL Lockout? Friars Get Some Football In

In order to keep things lively in the clubhouse, the San Diego Padres held a QB competition with Orlando Hudson, Casey Kelly and Cory Luebke.

"We’re here six weeks, and every day’s the same. We try to do some things to keep the guys loose. – Bud Black"

Kelly was the favorite entering the competition since he had received a full-ride scholarship to Tennessee to play football. He was upset in the competition by Luebke. Luebke’s highlight was hitting a moving trash can from about 30 yards out. The guys seem like they are keeping loose and building up that team chemistry.

Just in case there is a lockout in the NFL, we can create a team with out Padres. Luebke will QB the squad and we can use speedster Luis Durango out wide. Kyle Blanks is built like a lineman and Will Venable might have some skills at safety (at least his brother does).
