Mat Latos will start the season on the disabled list

Bad news for our Padres, young pitching ace, Mat Latos, will start the season out on the disabled list because of shoulder soreness. He is still scheduled to throw tomorrow and they are hopeful that he will be ready soon.

We will need a healthy and productive Latos if we want to have a good season this year. Starting him out on the disabled list will give him time to rest up the arm.

Cory Luebke has made the opening day roster and may be a candidate to take some starts. The starts most likely will go to Dustin Moseley, who pitched 4+ innings against the Dodgers a couple of days ago.

The other pitchers in the rotation will have to step up and pitch well with Latos’ absence. Tim Stauffer will get the opening day start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday and he will want to set the tone for the rest of the guys in the rotation with a strong outing.
