Padres on pace to be shutout over 40 times this season

San Diego Padres 0 – Philadelphia Phillies 3

L: Mat Latos (0-3)
SV: Jose Contreras (5)

You can’t win a game if you don’t score! WELL, DUH!! But somebody should tell our Padres this! We have been shutout for the 5th time this season. That is more than 1/4 of our games that we have played. At this rate, we will be shutout in over FOURTY games this season.

Roy Oswalt was the latest to enjoy pitching against the pitiful Padres lineup. He pitched 6 innings of baseball and only gave up 1 hit in the game and struck out 7. The Padres just can’t figure anything out at the plate. The biggest question mark came in the bottom of the ninth and we were down by 3 and had runners on first and second, then Buddy decided to pinch hit and bring in…. Brad Hawpe?!??!?!

Hawpe has been the worst hitter on the team AND of course he made Buddy look like a genius by striking out LOOKING!

In total, we left 9 men on base and went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position. We sucked, but maybe we were saving all the runs for tomorrow.
