We scored a run, but we still take a loss

Philadelphia Phillies 4 – San Diego Padres 2

W: Kyle Kendrick (1-1)
L: Chad Qualls (0-2)
SV: Ryan Madson (2)

We were actually able to put up a run on the board. We stayed away from a shutout, but we still left the game with another “L” in the standings.

Once again, the team was unable to capitalize in key opportunities. In the first inning, we put a run on the board, but their were a couple of other runs that were left hanging. We had Phillies pitcher, Joe Blanton, on the ropes with our first 3 batters reaching base. We had a runner at 3rd base and no outs with the “heart” of the order coming up. That run was never able to cross home plate and Blanton was out of the jam.

Altogether, the Padres left 8 men on the bags and went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Nobody on the team is coming up with a clutch hit. Our awesome first baseman, Brad Hawpe, went 0-for 5 in the game and grounded into a double play.

It is another wasted effort from our starting pitching. Tim Stauffer pitched 6 innings and gave up 2 runs and struck out 7. The bullpen was unable to hold the game tied in extra innings and we ended up with another loss.
