Philadelphia Phillies 3 – San Diego Padres 1

W: Roy Halladay (3-1)
L: Wade LeBlanc (0-1)
SV: Antonio Bastardo (1)

The Phillies came into our house and swept a 4-game series against our boys. Dominated our team with their pitching and just made the hits that they needed.

Wade LeBlanc pitched well in his first start of the season, limiting the Phillies to only 3 runs in the game. But with this offense, you need to pitch a shutout to hope for any chance at a win. 8 innings and 3 runs equals a loss for our team right now until something changes with this offense.

The offense struggled again to put up runs, but what else could be expected against one of the best in the league. Doc Halladay was one out away from pitching a complete game and struck out 14 Padres. We strung together 5 hits in the game and were just over matched by the power pitcher.

Our favorite scapegoat, Brad Hawpe, went 0-for-3 in the game with another pair of strikeouts. His batting average has now dipped below .100 and is sitting at .098. Those are some embarrassing numbers from someone we expected to bat in the middle of the lineup and play first base.

Happy Easter!
