Another depressing loss by our Padres

San Diego Padres 0 – Atlanta Braves 7

W: Tommy Hanson (3-3)
L: Mat Latos (0-4)

Another depressing loss by the LAST PLACE Padres getting shutout for the seventh time this season. This time we were shutout against Atlanta Brave Tommy Hanson. The bats were silent and the defense and pitching were even worse.

Our “stud” pitcher Mat Latos struggled on the mound again today. His pitches were getting rocketed out to centerfield and he didn’t settle down until after the Braves put six runs on the board. Only one of the runs were earned, but Latos still could have limited the damage.

In the second inning, Mat induced a ground ball over to the Padre that we currently hate the most (Brad Hawpe) and it scooted past him to allow a couple of runs to score. Then Latos allowed the next couple of hitters to hit deep drives out to center which only stayed in play because of the size of PETCO to drive in more runs.

The Padres are slumping and need a bunch of breaks to go there way. Hitting needs to heat up and the pitching needs to get back on track. We have an off day tomorrow to sit and think about what we can do better.
