San Diego Padres 4 – Arizona D-Backs 3
The game should have been over after nine innings. We should have been talking about a new Padres record for Heath Bell and a consecutive save streak. That was all ended in the bottom of the ninth after Chase Headley committed a throwing error to allow 2 runs to score and tie the ballgame to hand Heath Bell a blown save and had to go into extra innings.
Headley made the error to allow the game to go into extra innings, but he also had the plate appearance to end the game with a win for the Padres. Chase Headley drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 11th to walk off with the W. The win is bittersweet, we should have had it with a little piece of history, but a win is a win.
