of course you have to make this crack – "end up in coma just for liking the opposing team". like that hasn't happened chargers games at qualcomm much more often. but you do make a point, dodger fans don't care about the padres. I mean really, who in the country outside of sd county does? I have always found the sd steve garvey thing most pathetic – there are few more dodger people around. this being said, I went to the game last night against the d-bags – and I cheered for the pads. I think another good reason to for a d-bag/pad rivalry id once the floodgates of cash flow in la, the pads will even have less opportunity to compete.

If you get past the time frame thing, though, doesn't it make more sense to be the Dbacks rivals. They might hate us and we could easily hate them. Having the Dodgers as a rival just feels like we are fooling ourselves. But I do HATE the Dodgers.

I have to disagree. I just don't see how a team that has been in the league for 14 years can be our rivals. We don't have that much history against them as we do with the Giants or Dodgers. D-BACKS are more suited to be the rival of the Rockies who came into the league only five years before them. I know the Giants-Dodgers rivalry is HUGE and that is because it datesback to when both teams were in New York, which furthers my point. These teams have 50 plus years of hatred. As for the D-Backs, we can't really hate a team who has been around a decade and a half. Other than that your article was very thought provoking and entertaining.
