The Padres opened up a six-game road trip with on a positive note, beating Colorado 5-4. The win was the Padres 10th in their last 11 games.
Clayton Richard delivered another solid start for the Padres, earning his 12th win of the season. Richard went 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. Richard has a shot at surpassing his career-high in victories (14, in 2010).
Carlos Quentin added an RBI for the Padres in the fifth inning, on a ground-ruled double. Chase Headley also drove in a run with an RBI groundout in the third inning. Headley finished August with 31 RBI’s.
Luke Gregerson picked up his third save, although he did make things interesting, allowing a leadoff homer in the ninth inning. Luke battled back to retire the Rockies, and give the Padres the win in game one of the series.
