Throwdown Thursday – Week 26

Every Thursday, we at Chicken Friars will pick the two best Padres performers over the past week and analyze what they accomplished. Then we will leave it up to you, the fans, to decide who earned the week’s Throwdown Thursday’s honor.

Edison Volquez secured his first Throwdown Thursday honor after defeating teammate and infielder Everth Cabrera.

Volquez got the only vote needed to win the Week 25 Throwdown Thursday competition, as the person who voted for him thought his seven inning, six hit, four strikeout outing was good enough to warrant a vote over Cabrera.

The 29-year-old Dominican didn’t pitch in the final weekend of the season, so he won’t be able to make his way on the Week 26 ballot.

In the Throwdown Thursday season finale, we feature a Padre who fans can be excited about for many years to come, while the other is a Padre who is trying to prove he belongs with the team next year. Yasmani Grandal VS. Will Venable.
