Rymer Liriano is the Padres top prospect, according to every major publication in existence. He is described as a “toolsy” outfielder with a real opportunity to become a star for the Padres. Liriano was on display Saturday night, in the Arizona Fall League Rising Stars game. He did not disappoint.

Liriano batted 3rd for the West team and made the start in right field. Liriano went 3-4, with two doubles and an RBI. Despite the fine game from Liriano, the West team fell to the East team, 9-4.

In Liriano’s first at-bat, he stroked a booming double to right, that drove in minor league stolen base champion Billy Hamilton. Liriano also showed some heads-up baserunning, scoring on a ball that the 3rd baseman went into the stands to snag.

I did not see the whole game, but Liriano looks like a guy who could be a star. He is athletic and should develop more power. Liriano is already on the 40-man roster and he could make an impact in 2013. For now, he might be worth the cost of MILB.tv.
