Cameron Maybin Campaigns For Edwin Jackson

Cameron Maybin is one of those rare athletes who has a twitter account to hardly ever tweet. So when the Padres center fielder tweets something, it is sure to be of importance.

Maybin used the social media platform on Tuesday to express what free agent pitcher he would like to be teammates with.

Here is Maybin’s tweet:

Just like Maybin, I too think Edwin Jackson would be a good fit in the Padres’ rotation. I even made Jackson a Padres off-season target.

The 29-year-old right-hander is everything that Padres general manager Josh Byrnes is looking for in acquiring a starter.

He is not an injury risk as he has only been on the disabled list once in his 10-year Major League career, and that was back in 2004.

He is also very reliable, as he made all of his 31 starts last season with the Nationals. He is an innings eater as well (he pitched in 189 2/3 innings last year),  and can carry a rotation when need be.

Jackson may not be the ace the Padres need, but when Jackson is on his game, he is ace like.

Jackson owns a no-hitter to his name, a feat no Padre has ever accomplished.

The Georgia native has some familiarity with pitching in the National League West, having pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Jackson currently seeks a multi-year deal, but I’d offer him a two-year contract with an option for a third.

Maybin thinks Jackson would be a good addition to the Padres rotation, do you? Let us know in the comments below.
