Tim Stauffer Re-Signs with the San Diego Padres; Fans Get it Right!

After reading Chicken Friars’ Dominic Di Tolla’s argument for why it would be wise for the Padres to re-sign Tim Stauffer, I had asked the following question to the Chicken Friars’ fans in a poll last Wednesday:

“Should The Padres Re-Sign Tim Stauffer?

And for once in his life, Padres general manager Josh Byrnes listened to the fans, (ok, I really don’t know if the fans had any influence on this, or if he reads Chicken Friars at all) because it was announced Tuesday that the Padres and Stauffer reached an agreement on a minor league contract, according to a team press release.

As it turns out, 49 voters or 73 percent of the Chicken Friars’ fans had a crystal ball and voted for the Padres re-signing the 30-year-old right hander.

On the other hand, 18 voters, 27 percent of the Chicken Friars’ were drinking some Tim Stauffer haterade and voted against the Padres re-signing the former ace.

Congratulations to Stauffer on his contract, and for the majority of the Chicken Friar fans for getting it right.

Too bad Byrnes didn’t hear the fans when we were all screaming for Dan Haren, Giancarlo Stanton, Justin Upton or Rick Porcello.
