The Padres added some offensive fire power to the organization on Monday, when the team signed Adam Buschini to a Minor League contract, according to KCRA.com

Who exactly is Adam Buschini?

He is the 25-year-old Triple Crown winner in the Australian Baseball League. The Northern California native hit .363 with 15 home runs and 50 RBIs in 42 games played for the Canberra Cavalry team.

San Diego vice president of player development and international scouting Randy Smith told Padres.com “Quite frankly, he tore it up. He had very good  numbers, runs well, is a good athlete. So we gave him a Spring Training invite. We’ll see what he can do.”

Buschini was drafted by the Philadelpha Phillies in the fourth round of the 2009 draft out of Cal Poly, though his Minor League career lasted only two-seasons after hitting a combined .222 in the low minors.

Buschini is a second baseman and will report to Spring Training on March 1. He is projected to play for Double-A San Antonio, Padres.com reports.

Buschini played for Chico in the independent baseball league in 2011. In that year, he batted .288, then hit .374 with 14 bombs and 70 RBIs in 96 games for Amarillio in the American Independent Association last year.

There isn’t much of a scouting report on Buchini, based on this video though, he does have a nice leveled home run swing. (Pardon the Australian accent, mate!)
