Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- Team beat writer Corey Brock sheds light on the health status of Yasmani Grandal. San Diego’s catcher sustained a pretty gruesome knee injury during yesterday’s game against Washington. Brock also mentioned that the team will call up Rene Rivera from Triple-A Tucson to take his place on the big league roster.
- Chris Jenkins of the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote on the subject of Everth Cabrera. Jenkins mentioned how Everth is the team’s only All-Star, discussed the fine season he has enjoyed up to this point, and pondered what lies ahead for San Diego’s shortstop.
- Scott Miller of CBS Sports shared his thoughts on the recent “Ricky Nolasco to Los Angeles” trade. I mention this because the Padres appeared to be interested in the former Miami starter, and now that he has gone to a division rival I will be interested to see how he performs.
