Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:

  • Matt Calkins of the San Diego Union Tribune questioned whether or not the resignation of Tom Garfinkel will eventually lead to San Diego’s ownership group making some significant moves in the not-too-distant future.
  • I was not aware of this until yesterday, but apparently Kevin Towers went through a health scare last month.  San Diego’s former general manager and now Arizona’s general manager, suffered from paralysis on one of the sides of his vocal chords.  The paralysis actually left Towers unable to speak for a period of four weeks.  Richard Justice of MLB.com wrote a great piece on the general manager’s illness and recovery since he regained the ability to speak earlier this week.
  • Brock also mentioned that currently rehabbing starter Cory Luebke is trying to come back and pitch for the Friars in late-August or early-September.  Luebke, who was having a fine season in 2012 until he went down with an elbow injury, has been fighting back since he underwent Tommy John surgery last May.
