I agree that seeing if a player is alright is good move. I just don't think there needs to be media coverage on it. With all the bean balls lately it seems like the media wants to know immediately if this is a feud and then demand a public apology or suspension or something. It's just letting things get blown out of proportion. But, Chase is a classy ballplayer and respect his concern.

I agree that baseball is becoming less and less of a hustle and entertaining sport, however, what is so wrong with Headley wanting to see if his opponent is ok after a collision? It's not like he paid for his medical bills or sent him a fruit basket, guy just wanted to see how the guy was doing. These guys are in a select and exclusive fraternity, and showing a small amount of compassion isn't the worst thing. Also, I would rather see my team's starting 3rd Baseman healthy than lost for a season or worse in a meaningless early-May game.

As for Hamels, what he did wrong was not throwing at Harper and aiming for him in the numbers. What Hamels (and Kershaw) did to mess up was talking and chirping about it after the game and admitting it (something that is usually considered one of baseball's "Unwritten Rules"). That is probably what he got suspended for (in fact he wasn't thrown out of the game), not plunking Harper, but saying he did afterwards.

Welcome to the "Release Bartlett" club. The vesting option is what kills the Padres there.
