“If we win the World Series, I guarantee you I’m going to retire,” Hairston said in the article. “You can’t get any better than that.”

Hairston, a veteran of 15 Major League seasons, already has one World Series ring to his name with the 2009 New York Yankees. He wants to win another one with the hated Dodgers.

“It would be cool to say I won one with the Yankees and won one with the Dodgers,” he said.

Hairston, 36, knows time is no longer on his side. 36 is considered old in baseball years, throw in the fact that he is just coming off of a surgically repaired left hip.

As much as I loved Hairston when he was with the Padres, I can’t stand him anymore! Frankly, I hate the guy! He is a great ball player, and I’m sure is a good person, but the fact that he plays for the Dodgers makes me Hate him.

I hope Hairston does win a World Series, just not with the Dodgers. In fact, I hope Chase Headley and company ruin any opportunity Hairston has of going to the World Series with the Dodgers.

BEAT LA! BEAT LA! Beat LA!

Hairston was a key player for the Padres last season making clutch hits and taking over at shortstop.

The Padres picked up middle infielders Orlando Hudson and Jason Bartlett this offseason and there was no more room for Hairston on the roster with those two taking up most of the playing time. It would have been nice to have Hairston off the bench to fill in for any possible injuries and for his versatility and leadership.

The Nationals picked up a good player.

It is Black Friday and its time to look at what the Padres have on their shopping list this and would like to bring to the team.

Middle Infielders

The Padres currently do not have a second baseman or a shortstop and are looking for athletic defensive minded players to plug into those positions. Its possible that we bring back Jerry Hairston and Miguel Tejada, BUT the Padres have also been linked to Jose Reyes, Jason Bartlett, and Japanese star Tsuyoshi Nishioka.

Starting Pitchers

Currently we have Mat Latos, Clayton Richard, and Tim Stauffer lined up to be the starters in the rotation and the rest of the rotation up in the air. We could bring up Cory Luebke to start the season in the rotation and we still have Wade Leblanc. We offered arbitration to Kevin Correia and there is a possibility that Correia accepts that offer to stay on the team. It also looks like Chris Young would like to stay on the Padres staff. The Padres are enticing for free agent pitchers looking to upgrade their value in the open market and could look to draw in some different names.

Catcher

Nick Hundley would be the starting catcher at this time, but there is no backup to him. It would be nice to bring in a veteran player to split time with Hundley and also have the veteran handle the young pitching staff. Yorvit Torrealba did an amazing job last season and was offered arbitration.
