The Minnesota Twins have had a busy off-season with the recent trades of Denard Span and Ben Revere. The Twins kept busy Monday night by signing former Padres pitcher Kevin Correia, MLB TradeRumors reports.

The contract is said to be for $10 million over two-years, ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports.

The San Diego native pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season where he had a 12-11 record with a 4.21 ERA over 32 games pitched (28 starts).

Correia pitched for the the Padres in 2009 and 2010, combining to go 22-21 with a 4.54 earned run average and a 6.7 k/9.

At best Correia is a No. 3 starter.

He will be a good addition to the Twins’ starting rotation, which will feature the newly acquired Vance Worley, Trevor May and the heralded Alex Meyer.

I’ve always liked Correia and I wish him nothing but the best in Minnesota.

The deadline to offer arbitration to players was tonight at 9 PM and the Padres have offered arbitration to 3 Type-B Free Agents, Jon Garland, Kevin Correia, and Yorvit Torrealba. If these players do not accept arbitration, then the Padres will receive a supplemental draft pick as compensation.

The Padres did not offer arbitration to David Eckstein (Type B) or to Miguel Tejada (Type A).

Definition of Type A and Type B Free Agents:

In Major League Baseball, free agents are classified as either Type A, Type B, or unclassified. Type A free agents are those determined by the Elias Sports Bureau to be in the top 20% of all players based on the previous two seasons. Type B free agents are those in the next twentieth percentile. Unclassified free agents are those remaining in the bottom sixtieth percentile.

Teams that lose a Type A free agent, to whom they have offered arbitration, receive the top draft pick from the team that signs the free agent, plus a supplemental draft pick in the upcoming draft as compensation. Teams losing Type B free agents, or Type A’s not offered arbitration, receive only a supplemental pick as compensation. Teams that lose unclassified free agents do not receive any compensation. – wikipedia.com
