The San Diego Padres manager Bud Black was announced today as the National League Manager of the Year. Bud Black beat out Reds manager Dusty Baker by 1 point to win the award. Black gathered 16 first place votes, seven second place votes and three third place votes.

Black was able to resurrect the Padre team that was expected to finish dead last in the division. The Padres were able to fight until the final day of the season and was the last team to be eliminated from playoff contention. The team finished with 90 wins.
